Title: Alcohol imagery on popularly viewed television in the UK
Abstract
This study is focusing
on the advertisement of the alcohol product on the television. It has been
noticed that exposure to the alcohol imagery on the youth affect negatively and
initiate them towards the drinking. In the UK most of the television shows the
alcohol products from6 p, to 10 pm with frequency because these are the peak
hours to watch the television.
Exposure to alcohol consumption and product imagery in
films is associated with increased alcohol consumption among young people, but
the extent to which exposure also occurs through television is not clear. We
have measured the occurrence of alcohol imagery in prime-time broadcasting on
UK free-to-air television channels. So this articles is addressing to the
policy makers that they should not advertise such products on the television
because these are affecting our youth negatively. Many alcohol brand use the
film stars to promote their products. Films starts are the inspiration of the
youth and children and they tend to follow their favorite starts so the
promotion of such products can mislead the youth.
